There are some celebrity photos out there that you can find (if you search hard enough) that haven’t been photoshopped! In this case, this is Craig Lamar Traylor from Malcolm in the Middle (amazing eh?),I’m just going to show you how to do a quick retouch on photos like these. I also recommend that you use HI-RES images to get the best retouch.
Firstly We’re going to remove the blemishes on his face:
–Start by duplicating the layer by right clicking and selecting DUPLICATE LAYER, you can name this whatever you want.
–Click the Healing Brush and select the Patch Tool (you’ll love it,especially for retouches),and what your going to do is hold down the left side of your mouse and drag the tool around a small spot like a circle.
–Hold down the left side of your mouse again and move it up or down to a clear patch of skin, just keep doing this over any blemishes you see such as; dark spots, laugh lines, stress lines, etc…
–Right Click the background copy layer and duplicate it (again name it whatever you like), Click the blur tool and select the SMUDGE tool, now increase your brush size between 40-50 and change the strength to 55%.
–Now we’re going to smooth his skin,Start going over his face with small back and forth strokes and make sure not to mix the tones of his skin and try to stay away from the edges of his face (including hair).
–Go back to the brushes and lower the Master Diameter to 25% and go over the eye lids again using small strokes and try not to touch the eye lashes or the eye brows.(When smoothing cracks from lips use small strokes and try not to distort the realness of the shape of the lips, always saves your work in case you mess up!)
–You should have one main background and two duplicated images,Right click the 3rd duplicated layer and select duplicate layer(name it whatever you want),you should now have a fourth layer.
–Now go to Filter and scroll down to Blur ~ Gaussian Blur, change your radius to 5.5 (You can use a radius between 5.5 – 7.5) and select Ok,go back to your layers window and change the Opacity to 20%.
–Select the third layer and change the opacity to 50% so it has a softness to it, Now make a new layer and go to Image ~ Apply Image, change the blending mode to Normal and select OK.
–Your background layers are now fully merged without REALLY merging them!
–Go to Filter ~ Sharpen ~ Sharpen, repeat this action by hitting CTRL+F or selecting filter again and selecting Sharpen.
–Again create a New Layer and select Apply Image and hit OK,Now we’re going to brighten the levels a little bit since some photos that aren’t retouched have dull colors.
–Select Image ~ Adjustments ~ and click Auto Levels, now your FINISHED!
This is my way of retouching photos,it’s quick and it’s easy. I’d love to see some work if any of you use this tutorial & don’t forget to subscribe for more tutorials ^^.
